Piano Lessons

Prospective Students

It can be tough to find a piano teacher whose philosophy and personality align with yours! I offer one free trial lesson for all new students so that both teacher and student can evaluate whether it is a good match.

Lesson Fees

Music education can be a significant commitment of both time and money. I strive to offer lesson rates that are fair both for students and for my experience, skill, resources, and time (during lessons and preparation beforehand).

My studio runs on a semester system, with a total semester tuition that is split into a flat monthly payment rate. The semester tuition includes the cost of all books and music materials. The Fall semester begins in August and ends in December; the Spring semester begins in January and ends in June. Students joining the studio mid-semester will have a prorated tuition cost.

Teaching Experience and Philosophy

I’ve been teaching piano to students from TK to retirement age since 2011. I have worked as an arts educator for voice and choir students, taught college students in popular and non-western music courses, and developed general music curriculum for grades K-8. I incorporate skills learned from all these arts education experiences into my piano teaching practice.

In my studio, students not only learn the fundamental skills expected in western classical music, but also skills that allow them to branch off into other styles that might interest them, like pop and jazz. Students don’t just learn how to play a few pieces of classical music in our lessons; they learn how to improvise, how to play music they hear on the radio, and even how to write their own music!

I strongly believe in building a strong musical foundation through a variety of skills and styles so that students have the opportunity to pursue music in their own ways. I tailor my lessons to each student and their interests, and strive to create an environment where students feel encouraged to explore and experiment with different approaches. My number one goal with piano lessons is to assist students in finding their own unique voice and interests, so that they develop a lifelong love of music.
