2025-26 School Year
Students and parents must agree to the following studio policies:
Attendance
- Scheduling is based on a mutually agreed time between student, teacher, and student’s parent/guardian if the student is under 18 years old. Students are responsible for noting and remembering their lesson times.
- If a student will miss a lesson, a minimum of 24 hours advance notice is required.
- If student fails to provide 24-hour notice consistently (with the exception of illness and/or emergency), the student forfeits their regularly scheduled lesson time, at teacher’s discretion.
- If a student is sick within 24 hours of a lesson, please reschedule the lesson. You will receive a makeup lesson credit.
- If a student misses a lesson with no notice 3 or more times, the student may be fired from the studio (at teacher’s discretion).
- If the student knows they will be going on vacation or knows of any other absences, please notify the teacher as far ahead as possible.
Makeup lessons
- Semester tuition accounts for several non-teaching dates and/or student absences. Missing a lesson date is like missing a day of school. It will not be rescheduled EXCEPT:
- If student cancelled due to illness, OR
- If teacher cancelled due to illness or unexpected schedule conflict OR
- After 2 lessons in Fall or 3 lessons in Spring have been missed, AND
- At teacher’s discretion
Billing
- Invoices will be sent by email through MyMusicStaff on the first of each month. Tuition is due by the 10th of each month by cash, check, or Zelle.
- If tuition is not received by the 10th of the month, a 5% late fee will be applied to the account.
- If a check is returned, there will be a $25 fee.
In-home Monthly Fees
- Students requesting in-home lessons (i.e., lessons where I drive to you) will be assessed an additional fee per month to compensate for travel time and fuel prices. This is charged based on distance from my home studio in Anaheim, as follows:
0-10 miles from studio | $20 |
11-20 miles from studio | $30 |
21-30 miles from studio | $40 |
Recital Fees
- Recital fees assist with the cost of venue rental, program printing, and other associated costs.
- An additional $50 recital fee per participating student will be assessed the month before each recital.
- If the recital fee is prohibitive for you, please let me know. Recitals are an important part of student development, and I will make sure all students are able to participate, regardless of financial situation.
Annual Tuition Increases
- To keep up with the rate of inflation, tuition will be increased by a small percentage each school year. Tuition will never be increased mid-semester without advance notice to students.
Practice Expectations
- Students will see the most benefit from piano lessons when putting in regular practice time between lessons. Students should prioritize and schedule practice time as part of a daily routine.
- Students are expected to apply practice techniques and concepts from lessons to practice sessions at least 5 days out of the week. “Cramming” practice into the day before or day of a lesson does not result in an enjoyable experience for the student or the teacher!
Termination
- If a student wishes to discontinue lessons, notification is required by the 10th of the month of termination. If adequate notice is not given, you will be financially responsible for the last month of lessons, whether or not you/your child choose to have lessons.
- The teacher reserves the right to terminate a student at any time for reasons such as refusal to follow studio policies, persistent late payment or failure to pay tuition, consistent absences, inappropriate behavior, or any other reason.
